Contest Rules


The iPad contest closed on April 30th. The draws will take place on May 15.
Winners will be announced on our website shortly thereafter.

Contest

The contest is organized and sponsored by The Personal Insurance Company and The Personal General Insurance Inc. (hereinafter jointly referred to as “The Personal”), in cooperation with the Canadian Bar Insurance Association (CBIA) (hereinafter the “Contest Organizers”), and runs from January 16, 2012, until April 30, 2012, closing at 11:59 p.m. Eastern time.

Exclusivity

The contest is open exclusively to members of the legal profession and employees of law firms.

Directors, employees, and sales representatives of the Canadian Bar Insurance Association (CBIA), employees of CBA Financial Services (CBAF), and employees of the Canadian Bar Association (CBA) and its subsidiaries, as well as anyone living with the aforementioned persons, however, are excluded.

Prize

There will be seven (7) 16GB Apple iPads awarded, with an approximate value of $500 CAD each with a contest total aggregate value of approximately $3,500 CAD.

Eligibility

1. Contest entrants must:
• Reside in Canada; and
• Be at least 18 years of age, or have reached the age of majority in their province of residence, by April 30, 2012; and
• Be a member of the legal profession or an employee of a law firm; and
• Obtain a quote for auto and/or home insurance from The Personal between January 16, 2012 and April 30, 2012 OR submit the expiry date of their existing auto, and/or home policy between January 16, 2012 and April 30, 2012 OR have a CBIA home and/or auto policy in force at the time of at the time of draw.

2. One chance to win per person per insurance product.

3. No entry form required. No purchase required.

4. No employees, representatives, or agents of The Personal, or any other Desjardins General Insurance Group entity, nor anyone living with the aforementioned persons, may take part in the contest.

Details of the Draw

• Seven (7) winners will be randomly selected from among all eligible entries through one (1) electronic draw held at The Personal’s office at 3 Robert Speck Parkway, Mississauga, Ontario L4Z 3Z9, on May 15, 2012, at 3 p.m. (ET).

• The odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received and the number of policies in force at the time of the draw.

• Contest participant means the person whose name is indicated on the insurance policy, insurance quote or renewal reminder. In the event two people have jointly requested an insurance quote or jointly submitted a policy expiry date or have jointly purchased a policy, the person who is eligible under the Canadian Bar Insurance Association Home and Auto Insurance program will have to correctly answer a mathematical skill–testing question and will receive the prize in his or her name. If both people are eligible under the Canadian Bar Insurance Association Home and Auto Insurance program, the first person contacted will have to correctly answer a mathematical skill–testing question, but the prize will be awarded in both names.

• To obtain his or her prize, each of the seven (7) winners must meet the eligibility requirements set forth in these rules and
a) Be reached by telephone within ten (10) business days of the draw; and
b) Correctly answer a timed mathematical skill–testing question asked over the telephone; and
c) Accept the prize as awarded; and
d) Consent to the use of his or her name, place of residence, photograph, and voice in any contest-related advertising, without compensation; and
e) Sign a declaration and release form under the conditions provided for by the Contest Organizers and return it within ten (10) days of its receipt.

Failing which, the Organizers will select a different winner. This subsequent draw will proceed in the same manner as described in these rules, with the exception of the date, which cannot be the same.

• Within ten (10) business days of reaching the winners by phone, the Contest Organizers will mail a letter to the winners describing the procedure to claim the prize. In the event that a winner fails to meet the various conditions, the Contest Organizers will be released from any and all obligations regarding the awarding of the prize to that winner and may hold a new draw in the same manner as described in these rules, with the exception of the date which cannot be the same. At their sole discretion, the Contest Organizers may choose to cancel the prize.

• The prize cannot be transferred to another person or to the winner’s successor or heir.

• Each of the seven (7) winners may waive his or her right to receive the prize and instead choose to receive a cheque for Five Hundred Canadian dollars ($500 CDN).

• Within ten (10) days of receiving the letter by mail informing him or her of how to take possession of the prize, each winner must make his or her choice known to the Contest Organizers. Once the Contest Organizers have received confirmation of this choice in writing, no modification will be accepted.

• In the event that the Contest Organizers cannot award the prize as described in these contest rules, they reserve the right to award a like prize of equivalent value or, at their discretion, the prize cash value indicated herein.

General Provisions

• All quote requests and renewal reminders remain the property of the Contest Organizers.

• The Contest Organizers reserve the right to modify the terms of this contest or cancel it without prior notice at any time, subject to the approval of Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux du Québec.

• The Contest Organizers reserve the right to disqualify any entrant or cancel any entry that does not comply with these rules.

• All decisions made by the Contest Organizers are final and binding, subject to any decision of Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux du Québec on any matter under its jurisdiction.

• For Quebec residents, disputes regarding the organization or conduct of a promotional contest may be submitted to Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux du Québec for a ruling. Disputes regarding the awarding of a prize may be submitted to Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux du Québec but only for the purpose of helping the parties reach a settlement.

• The Contest Organizers cannot be held liable for lost, misplaced, or late entries, or for any failure, for any reason whatsoever, that may affect the availability or operation of the website or any telecommunications systems and networks for the duration of this contest. Moreover, the Contest Organizers cannot be held liable for any damage to entrants’ computers or to components of computer systems used to enter this contest.

• By entering this contest, all participants release the Contest Organizers of all liability for any damages that could result from said entry or from the acceptance or use of the prize should the person be declared a winner.

• The winner accepts that the only warranties applicable to this prize are any warranties normally offered by the various suppliers of products and services.

• The various suppliers of products and services are not associated with this contest and do not sponsor it in any way.

• These contest rules are also available in French at www.assurancebarreau.com. In the event of a discrepancy between the English and French versions of these rules, the English version shall prevail.

• The contest is subject to all applicable laws.
